Week of December 7th-11th, 2015

This week in class we will be finishing the Lego colored pencil pieces.  They will be due by Friday the 11th.  The pieces are really turning out beautifully.  I can't wait to post them. Many of the students are almost complete and will be able to start work on what will be their midterm exam if they finish before Friday.  There may be additional class days that they may be able to work on their exam pieces.

On Tuesday of this week, I will go over what the midterm requirements will be this year.  The Art 1 midterm is a project that they will have to research and then implement what they have learned into their composition.  The composition is done outside of class and brought in on the day of their exam in a finished state.  The reason that I have the students work outside of class is because each student works at a different pace and I want them to really show what they have learned so far this semester, which would require more time than what we are allocated for exam time.  This piece should ideally be their best piece so far this year.

Next week I will also demonstrate how to cut a mat.  The students will be required, as part of their midterm, to cut their own mat for their composition.  I will post the information given to them regarding the midterm by the end of the week on this page.
