4th Quarter Sketchbook Assignments

If you finish what we are currently working on in class, you are to pick one or more of the drawing assignments below and work on them (ideally) in your sketchbook.

Everyone will have to pick 2 to turn in by the end of the 4th quarter.  You will receive deadlines.  Any additional assignments finished will be considered extra credit.

Remember to create a strong finished composition using the whole of your sketchbook page.

  1. Create a composition that shows/ describes the word “Abandoned”.  Use the material that works best for your composition.
  2. Create a composition that shows us the house that you would like to live in.  Use the material that works best for your composition.  Think about setting as well.
  3. Ask Mrs. Plagge for a Drawing prompt.  You will pick one that has 4 things listed that you will need to use when creating your composition.  Use the material that works best for your composition.
  4. Draw something using only your favorite color.  You should absolutely use values of that color. Use the material that works best for your composition.
  5. Draw a masked man or woman who is not a superhero.  Use the material that works best for your composition.
  6. Draw hair…A LOT of it!  It could be on a person or just as a texture study.  Color is optional.  Use pencils (drawing or colored) to do this piece.
  7. Draw an object of interest from 3 different viewpoints.  Pick an object that you find interesting.  You can put all 3 viewpoints onto one page of your sketchbook if you like.  Use the material that works best for your composition.
  8. Cut out a piece of a postcard or magazine.  Paste it somewhere on the page and fill the rest of the page with a new made up environment.
  9. Draw a family portrait. Plot twist: It is a family of insects or animals.  Use the material that works best for your composition.
